Step 1: Decorate your house!
Step 2: Agree to participate!
Prior to the contest start, the participating neighborhood boards tour their areas and invite neighbors to participate. Houses who are participating are marked with a yard sign (displayed above). If we miss your house or you'd like to throw your hat in the ring, text* "participate" to (916) 269-1989 or email us at rhna@rcona.org with the subject line "Halloween Decorating Contest." We'll add you to the list.

Participating houses have a yard sign posted out front indicating their participation in the contest. Each house is assigned a unique 4 digit contestant number.
While the contest is live, neighbors and friends are invited to tour the neighborhood or review photos at the above neighborhood links to vote for their favorite!
Voting is currently by text* message only and every one only gets one vote per neighborhood.
The contest generally concludes sometime on October 31.

The winner is the house with the most votes. There is only a prize for the first place winner. Ties are broken by the members of the neighborhood board.
1st place receives a "trophy" for their victory (a unique yard sign to keep), along with a mystery bonus prize.
